We had an exciting week at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany last month where we showed off Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution for the international gaming media. We're happy to report that people loved what they saw and the buzz and enthusiasm coming out of the show is at a fever pitch.

If you haven’t already heard, Civilization Revolution is a brand new Civ experience that Sid and our team at Firaxis are creating from the ground up for the Xbox 360, PS3, DS (to be released Spring 2008) and Wii (to be released Fall 2008). It will have all of the elements and addictive gameplay qualities of the hugely popular Civ series on the PC, but will be built to take advantage of the processing power and graphical capabilities of the latest consoles. And did we mention the DS? I believe we did. You can finally take the famous “one more turn” addiction with you wherever you go (work, family functions, management meetings, etc.). With Sid Meier leading the design and programming of the game it is sure to be another masterpiece.

And more good news to report…

Sid Meier’s Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword (the second expansion pack to Civ IV) shipped this summer and is receiving excellent reviews (a 9.0 average so far). If you would like to see what it’s all about before parting with your hard-earned cash, you can either download one of two different demos from FilePlanet which feature the first 75 turns of either the Final Frontier scenario or the Charlemagne scenario, or pick up the latest issue of PC Gamer which contains the first 75 turns of the Charlemagne scenario. For those of you taking Final Frontier for a spin, stay away from the black holes. Black holes = bad.
